I don’t know why, but crochet commissions come in bunches, kind of like celebrity deaths and flowers and honey-flavored oats. They don’t always come in super-cool bunches, though, which makes me extra-excited when they do. This week, I got a request from a very cool mom whose daughter wears toboggan-style caps and tucks her hair into them. The mother asked for a slouchy hat (the better to accommodate the hair) and gave me a list of preferred colors – followed by a list of of possible THEMES! I heart themes!
If you follow me with any regularity, you know that I design my own patterns, but in this case, I saw no need to reinvent the wheel. I love the Pinecone Slouchy Hat pattern by Julie King of Gleeful Things. It even offers ventilation, which I hope will help make the hat a little cooler for summertime wear. I modified the pattern just a smidge for the age and head size of the lovely girl who will be wearing it, made it with purple and black stripes, and and to suit the theme, created an Adventure Time applique.
The hat is too small for me, but I wedged it onto my head for a pic.
If I can make something super cool for you, your offspring, or your favorite Adventure Time fan, by the way, please let me know! Commissions rule!
