Thank you so much to everyone for entering!
Greetings my sweet chicken potstickers!
OMG YOU GUYS. The Sacred Geometry stencils from Artistcellar are some of my absolute all-time favorites. and.. and… AND NOW THERE ARE MORE OMG.
Sacred Geometry 2. Excuse me while I swoon.
I had to include that picture because OMG HOLY HELL THE COLOR AND TEXTURE AND OMG. *swoon* Textureporn. Speaking of textureporn, here’s a snippet of the page I made. MORE TEXTUREPORN.
Delicious.
Here’s the page I made:
I think the sun should always be made of sacred geometry. I mean, really!
I started with a blank page in my RecorDori, boring old watercolor paper. I used blue painter’s masking tape to reinforce the binding. Sometimes I remember to do this, sometimes I don’t, but it really helps! Mostly I wanted to keep paint from running through and ruining my favorite spread. haha! I sealed the masking tape with a layer of matte medium.
I’m not sure why I bothered to take a picture of this step, but WHATEVER. We’ll call it in the name of being thorough. 😉
Next I used gel medium to attach some random collage ephemera. This is purely for texture’s sake. No real dollar bills were harmed in the making of this journal spread (they came from a notepad, I think)
BOOM!
Next I smooshed some modeling paste through the Seed of Life stencil. Then I ran out to spend three hours standing on a bridge in the cold. Hey, whatever it takes to kill time until that stuff dries, amirite?
Once I warmed up and could feel my fingers and toes, I painted over the bottom part of the page with a wash of Golden Sap Green and the top with a wash of Golden Phthalo Turquoise.
I made some simple clouds with white acrylic and used orange and yellow acrylics through the Quattro Flower to emulate the sun.
Once that was done, I darkened the horizon using Van Dyke brown and painted a solemn little floating girl. That’s sort of my jam. I also splattered white and turquoise paint with a toothbrush. That is also sort of my jam.
Using a typewriter and an old decrepit book page, I added text. ALSO MY JAM.
It’s totally a metaphor. LOOK I CAN BE DEEP SOMETIMES, OKAY? I know, I’m surprised too.
Here! I’ll show you the completed image again in case you’re lazy like me and don’t want to scroll up!
HAHAHA I made you read all the way through my inane blathering to get to the good part. I am tricksy like that.
