In November, Teesha and Tracy Moore unveiled their newest project, The Artstronauts Club. That is super awkward to type. It was mentioned on the blogs of several different artists that I admire, so I immediately checked it out and joined. I have SO not been disappointed!
If you’re not familiar with Teesha and Tracy, they are art journaling aficionados and the creators of the Zettiology stamp company, which started its own art movement that is HUGE in mail art trading circles. Check out Teesha’s blog for some of her work and Tracy’s blog for some of his work.
Directly from the site’s about page,
It is our goal to have this meeting place that always has new sources of inspiration in the form of online mini workshops, interesting videos, relevant articles and how-to’s, downloadable art and art supplies (like collage sheets, patterns, wrapping paper, etc.), tips on new art supplies and books, random quirky stuff and a forum to share ideas and your own art. We will delve into anything and everything that enhances your creative life.
Teesha and Tracy Moore will be your editors, but we have a huge network of amazing artists, teachers, musicians, videographers and photographers who are excited about this project and will be contributing their own unique ideas as well. We keep hearing how excited they all are and how this new project just “feels right”. We concur!
Right now, we are on the ground floor of this behemoth project and while we have big ideas, we also want to allow space to see how this grows and expands. I know a thing or two about following a creative idea and know how it can lead to adventures far beyond what I could have envisioned.
The subscription price is $5/month. For that you will receive full access to everything on the site. We promise at least a few new video workshops per month as well as some cool digital art supplies. A value of $100/month. It is our goal to make this affordable to all, but also help us keep food on our table.
Down the road, we may offer super deluxe workshops from our network of friends and from us as well. These will be offered to our members at a significant savings.
Sounds cool, right? and RIDICULOUSLY cheap at 5 bucks per month, even cheaper if you buy a six-month or yearly subscription. Quick, get in before they change their mind and raise the price! 😉 So far there have been tutorials on making a journal, choosing collage materials, and a two-part art journaling mini workshop that was uploaded yesterday. I haven’t had time to watch it yet, but I will be doing that as soon as I’m done doing this! 😉
Some other artists that have posted about and are associated with it include Mindy Lacefield, Jane Davenport, Junker Jane, and Jesse Reno, all people I greatly admire and would happily eat the brains of given a chance. Okay not really, I am on a brain-free diet, but still, they are awesome.
Aside from the videos, there have also been free collage sheets, free art prints, free recipes and organization ideas. There is even a discussion forum where you can ask questions and post your own art. I am excited to see where it goes from here since it’s all sparkly and new!
Please note, I am not affiliated in any way with any artist mentioned or The Artstronauts Club. I just think it is awesome.
