Howdy, y’all! Welcome to day 6 of our 12 Days of Strange ornament EXTRAVAGANZAAAAAAAAAAA!
Yeah, I’m doing the Gelli Plate again. Sue me. Nothing gets five backgrounds done as quick and easy! Here’s what we’re going to be making:
These are little 3 x 3 canvases (I think I maybe said 2 x 2 in the video.. sorry about that) that have been printed with the Gelli Plate and then painted with simple little zombies using acrylics and watercolors. If you don’t like zombies (and why don’t you like zombies?!?), you can always just do the Gelli Plate part and skip the rest.. In that case, your ornaments would look like this:
SO… ready? Here we go (holy crap I made you a video)!!
Towards the end of the video, my kids came home and the house got super noisy. I used indigo watercolor to darken the area where the zombies meet the background to make them pop out a little more, and I used a dark brown watercolor to add some simple shading to the santa puffs. I gave them bloody mouths and some splatters of red paint just for that extra ick factor.
I hope you liked it (and I hope it wasn’t too boring.. I know it’s pretty long) – I plan on doing lots more in the new year!
xo and blarghhhhhhhhhh braiiiiiins mistletoe.
