Last week, I mentioned that my father had been picking up some things for me at auctions. Here is a rustic wood wine bottle holder that he was particularly excited to hand over to me, with the propitious words, “I thought you could do something with this. You know. One of your things.” Yup, yup. One of my rustic Santa Claus things.
Although I am all in favor of the drinking of wine and the holding of wine bottles, whether by Santa Claus or another elderly gentleman with a beard, this particular bottle holder was crooked inside, making it unfit for its designated purpose. Fortunately, I have the magical ability to take things apart.
Once I had freed Santa (hashtag #freeSanta), I gessoed him and set about sculpting him a new face, or one might say, an old face.
Henry is available in my Etsy shop, where you can learn what secret plans I have for his hollow insides – and I mean that literally, and morally.
