I’ll be honest: My kitchen is more or less an art gallery with a dishwasher in it – and I am always trying to think up ways to fit more art in without, say, taking the dishwasher out. This week, I started painting a set of canisters, the kind that hold flour and sugar and coffee and usually sit on the counter looking all plain and functional. These will be plenty functional, but they won’t be plain. No. They shall be Star Wars!
In their original state, the canisters were a very dark evergreen color. You can see a glimpse of it inside the rim in this first shot.
Now, as for what will appear on the fronts, I have the following in mind. I want to tie Star Wars to the kitchen, so here’s what I’m thinking:
1) The Papa Canister: Yoda, possibly wearing a chef’s hat, with the text “Bake, or do not. There is no buy.”
2) The Mama Canister: Leia, looking pissy, with the text “Hot Cross Buns.”
3) The Baby Canister: Salacious Crumb. No text?
