Many years ago, I started making crocheted tapeworms. To minimize the “gross” factor, I made them brightly colored and almost cute:
This fall, I received a request for a more realistic, anatomically accurate dipylidium caninum – that is, the kind of tapeworm found in dogs – to give to a veterinarian for Christmas. I jumped at the chance to make this, even though it meant researching tapeworm parts (ewwww!). Here is the result:
I just heard that he’s going to be presented to the vet in a covered flint glass Petri dish. Brilliant!
