For the past few weeks, we have been working harder than Santa’s elves to make all kinds of delicious seasonal goodies – and I don’t mean those spoiled, high-falutin’, toy-makin’ elves, either; I mean the ones who trim Santa’s corns and wash his cookie plates and hide the cocoa when Mrs. Claus says he’s had enough. Oh yeah. We work harder than the grouchy elves. That’s how much we love to make art!
This week, we’re celebrating a wonderstrange first: We survived Black Friday! Hell, we even enjoyed Black Friday – and Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday! Sure, by the time Monday rolled around, we were kind of exhausted and droopy around the ears, but this is not wimpystrange! We soldiered right on! So pour some eggnog, and let’s see what’s up!
Gobble, gobble, toil & trouble! We at wonderstrange are in a state of denial about the massive cook-stravaganza tomorrow, so instead, we’re concentrating on BLACK FRIDAY. And Cyber Monday. Because for both of those days (and every day in between), we’re having a sale that you should totally check out, so stay tuned for details!
Hey, know what day it is? Wednesday! (Unless you’re being tricksy and reading this on some other day, just to be a rebel. You rebel.) For us, at any rate, it’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time to show you what we’re up to this week!
All around the country, the women of wonderstrange are gearing up for the holidays. This is not to say we’re putting on our elf hats and putting out the rum balls, though. Frankly, we’d rather eat the rum balls, and we’re perfectly happy to do that in November. Hatless.
Last Christmas, I received an insanely gorgeous leather photo album, and by “gorgeous,” I mean expensive. (And gorgeous.) Staring down at the leather, I felt so guilty that I almost blurted out the awful truth: I don’t use photo albums. Ever. Even the gorgeous ones get banished to the closet, where they languish in the dark – or did, until the guilt became too much for me. When that happened, I sat down with a photo album, and I didn’t let myself get up until I figured out a way to make practical use of my gift. I’m pretty excited to share my solution, because what better thing to do with an expensive photo album than use it to store expensive art markers?!
The chill of Halloween is in the air! With less than a week to go before the big night, we’re giving you an opportunity to grab some colorful Halloween goodies from the wonderstrange bowl at great prices! This week, we are rewarding our WIP Wednesday followers with some exclusive WIP savings heretofore only available to spies, professional clock cleaners, and obscure team mascots with polysyllabic names. To get the details, keep reading!
As you may know, we’ve started a new practice at wonderstrange: On the first Friday of the month, one of us introduces a brand new project, and for the next three Fridays, the rest of us put our own spin on the idea. On October 7, Sarah kicked things off with her insanely cool Bone Cathedral Inspired Chalkboard, which at heart was a project with three components: 1) a picture frame; 2) a garland of plastic skeletons from the dollar store; and 3) extreme awesomeness. After some consideration, I settled on this variation: Instead of a chalkboard, I would make a cool cork board with a two-headed skellie centerpiece. As for the extreme awesomeness, I just had to cross my fingers and hope for the best.
Halloween mischief abounds this week!
